Outlook for Microsoft 365 Apps Feature Update for May 2021

Microsoft released the April feature update of Outlook for Microsoft 365 Apps in the Current Channel (previously known as the Office 365 Monthly Channel).

There are no new features for Outlook this month but there are 4 highlighted fixes and an additional one was fixed with an in-between release last week.

  • We fixed an issue that caused some instructions for the “Shorten Meetings” feature to be disabled through screen reader technologies.
  • We fixed an issue that caused some users to experience Outlook closing unexpectedly when loading person cards.
  • We fixed an issue that caused the feedback option to be disabled for users of the Office Perpetual 2021 preview.
  • We added a registry key that disables the new Room Finder experience (the same experience as in Outlook for Web) and enables the legacy Room Finder with Suggested Times.
    • Key: HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar
    • Value name: ShowLegacyRoomFinder
    • Value type: REG_DWORD
    • Value
      • 0 (Default)
        New Room Finder UI
      • 1
        Legacy Room Finder UI
  • We fixed an issue that caused the people picker in Outlook to expand upwards rather than downwards for users with a perpetual license.

Note: Depending on your installation type, this update can be installed via the Update Now button in Outlook or the Microsoft Store and updates Outlook to: Version 2105 (Build 14026.20246).
