A Security Update has been released for Outlook 2016. In addition to resolving the vulnerability, it also contains 3 documented improvements and fixes.
- Resolves the vulnerabilities mentioned in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS16-029 which could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted Office file.
- Updates startup information for all international languages to better align with Cortana.
- Outlook 2016 takers longer than Outlook 2013 takes to configure some email accounts.
- When you scroll through some items in a message list, Window-Eyes stops the screen reader from working for Outlook 2016.
When you are using Outlook 2016 as part of an Office 365 subscription, this update also solves the POP3 email duplicates issue that was introduced with the February update.
Note: This update can be installed via Microsoft Update or the Update Now button when you are using Office 365 and updates Outlook to version 16.0.4351.1000 (msi-based installation) or 16.0.6568.2036 (Office 365 based installation).
